"Polichinelle"

Image
"Polichinelle"  One of my favorite collectors, has an extensive collection of the character of Polichinelle. She was preparing a program for one of the doll clubs she belongs to. She asked me to create a fabric figure of this character.  Polichinelle is a French adaptation of the Italian  Pulcinella  that is itself inspired by the character of the  commedia dell’arte  with the same name. My version of this fellow has some familiar references to Punch. The strong hooked nose and chin, sinister hands, dressed very colorful and embellished.  The story of the character involves him swallowing a gigantic pickle. So the pickle protrudes from the front and the back of the torso. Sure was fun to create this guy for Kathleen.

Birds nest Feeder

The birds nest/feeder on my patio is one of my new favorite things. It was made by an artist who lives at Lake Tahoe. I spoon the bird seed into the holes and just watch as the birds gather for a nosh. So beautiful next to my birch installation.
