Cat Tails is one of my favorite creations. I love a play on words and the possibilities they present. The skirt has three usages of the word Cat Tails......the cat has a tail.....cat tails grow in marshy areas.....and there is a cat reading a tale about a cat. The calico cat on the left is reading a pop up book called Puss in Boots. Visible and very obvious hand stitches are a common theme in my fabric figures. There is no mistaking the touch of the artists hand upon the art work. I also love to add a playful touch to my work. The gray and white kitty is trying to play with the dangling little fabric do-dad in the dolls hand.

I have my calendar marked for next year at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts for the NIADA Conference near Gatinburg TN. It should be fun.

NIADA Conference Kansas City

What an amazing event in Kansas City at the NIADA 2019 conference. It was particularly memorable for me because after 6 years of hard work, I was voted in as a member of The National Institute of American Doll Artists. My sister and my nephew were able to attend the Gallery night event to see me among my spectacular colleagues. Thank you to all who helped me achieve this long time goal.

Birch Screen and Gardening Hutch

My view from the French doors off my kitchen. I picked up an old Hutch at a secondhand store and turned it into a storage spot for my gardening tools and other great outdoor items.

My Birch Inspiration

Image
I was able to rescue the beautiful Birch branches from the trees two of my friends had to cut down. I hauled load after load after load of branches in my Toyota Rav 4. I used the metal patio table that was not functional because the glass top had broken. A long shelf sits on the front end of the table top. The container flowers I plant in the Spring sit on that shelf. There is a layer of thick limbs stacked horizontally on either side of the tall more narrow branches. It is heavy and in no danger of being flipped over from the wind. I look out of my kitchen French doors to my beautiful Birch branch screen. One of my great joys in life. Creating something wondrous from something that comes my way. I just love it.
