Close up of Sailing the High Seas

Here is another doll creation that was a request from a long time client.  The title Sailing the High Seas refers to the sail boat sitting high on her head. The skirt with the cut work stitching has fish and nautical references that include the ships wheel, and anchor, Nelson's Column. Trafalgar Square was mentioned in the discussion about the dolls theme.

Close up of the painted and stitched face of Marie Antoinette. A very fine mohair yarn was used for the very tall hair that was characteristic of that era.

I received a request to create a doll that portrayed Marie Antoinette. I used a pale pink silk for the dress. A cream colored silk was used for the underskirt. I beaded lace applique and some vintage floral embellishment.

"Swan Song"

Image
"Swan Song" This is Swan Song. My father's favorite ballet was Swan Lake. I remember that he took two of my sisters to see a performance at the Denver Ballet when I was in the 4th grade. My parents were able to see a production of Swan Lake performed by the Bolshoi Ballet in St. Petersburgh. I love working  tone on tone.
