Too Many Cats In The Kitchen
Too Many Cats In The Kitchen
Christine Shively Benjamin
All of the cats and the one dog in the composition are
pets either belonging to my family or friends.
The white one eyed kitty in the apron pocket is Gwennie,
belonging to my youngest sister. She has a fondness for
turkey, so she wants to include a turkey leg into the
goulash recipe.
The kitty who has dived into the other apron pocket is
one of my kitties from college, Bruce. He was always
searching for treats.
The orange tabby waking up from a nap in the chef’s hat
belongs to my friend Jan. His name is Ted. He is the taster
and only wants to be awakened when the goulash is ready.
The kitties think they can set the Astronomical Clock in
Prague in the center of the skirt as a timer. A rather silly
notion of course.
The black and white tuxedo kitty belongs to my sister Cate.
Her name is Bree. Since my sister is a good cook, Bree is
reading a cookbook to find recipes for cat goulash. The bird
sitting over Bree’s shoulder is whispering in her ear……”Birds
are not ingredients in cat goulash”.
The black cat leaping through the circles belongs to my sister
Cynthia. His name is Khan. He is chasing mice to add a tasty
morse to the goulash recipe. Another bird is trying to influence
Khan not to hunt for birds.
The fluffy dog is my friend Bobbie’s Italiano Spinoni, Guido.
Always interested in something good to eat, he is asking the
kitties if he can help. The kitties response is……”Yay ... .No”.
The gray and white kitty peeking over the wall is one belonging to
me a long time ago. Her name was Pippen. She was a good hunter
And she wants to add fresh fish to the recipe.
The calico cat holding a bowl of fish and the mouse on her head is
named Sparkle. She was one of my favorites to pet sit. She is
ready to add her ingredients to the tasty dish.
The girl is holding another calico that belonged to my sister Cate.
Her expression is that of complete exasperation at the chaos in the
kitchen. In addition to the mayhem, somebody brought some catnip!
Seriously….guys…..Catnip? There are too many cats in the kitchen!
